Norland Int’l. offers two types of commercial water
distillation systems: Multiple Effect and Vapor Compression.
Production capacities of these systems range from 75 gallons
(285 liters) a day up to 6,000 gallons (22,712 liters) per day
of high-quality distilled water (less than 2ppm TDS).
Commercial Vapor Distillation Systems
Norland offers four basic commercial distillation systems.
All are designed to produce high-quality distilled water at the
lowest possible cost and to deliver maximum profitability
through optimum efficiency.

About Vapor Compression Systems
The vapor compression systems produce 1500 gallons (5700 liters)
3,000 gallons (11,340 liters) or 6,000 gallons (22,712 liters)
per day and are extremely energy efficient. Norland has
effectively and successfully designed a system that produces
high-quality, distilled water (less than 1 ppm TDS) at the
lowest possible cost. Spectrum Vapor Compression Systems from
Norland offer the following features:
- Easy installation
- Solid-state operational controls
- Minimal preventive maintenance
- Dependable and durable
- Low operational costs. (Electricity will cost less than
$0.01/gallon)
- Up to 98% less waste water used than with other models
- Up to 6,000 gallons (22,712 liters) per day
Commercial Multiple-Effect Systems
Norland offers an efficient multiple-effect distillation system: Norland 500:
A 500 gallon-per-day (1900 L) system that produces high quality distilled water at approximately one-sixth the cost of a normal (single-effect) distillation system.
About Multiple-Effect Systems
Multiple Effect (ME) gets its name from the fact that more than
one boiling chamber is being used to produce the distilled
water. Norland’s ME systems utilize from two to six boiling
chambers. ME systems dramatically reduce the cost per gallon of
distilled water. The more effects (or boiling chambers)
utilized, the more efficient and inexpensive the production
becomes. ME systems offer the following features:
- Durable and dependable—no moving parts such as floats,
motors, compressors, etc., to wear out. Constructed
primarily of type 304 stainless steel.
- Easy to install—(only one electrical connection and
three water connections )
- Easy to operate—(built-in fail-safe controls surge
protection is standard
- Self-cleaning—(when feed water contains less than 1 ppm
of hardness and chlorine. If not, a dual alternating tank
water softener and commercial, activated-carbon pre-filter
are required)
- Easy to monitor—with see-through panel for instant
visual inspection
